    What are the Causes of Back Pain?

    EmilienBy EmilienJuly 27, 2022No Comments3 Mins Read

    About 65 million people in the United States experience back pain, which translates to about 8% of adults battling this condition. There are lots of reasons you might be getting San Antonio back pain. While many of them are not things you can fix by yourself, there are a few things you need to know to help alleviate your discomfort.

    Let us look at the types of back pains and the most common causes of this condition.

    Types of back pains

    Back pain can be divided into two main types. These include;

    Acute back pain-This develops suddenly and lasts for a few days to weeks. It may result from improper lifting, bad posture, or injury from high-impact activities such as sports. Overuse also can lead to acute back problems.

    Chronic back pain– This pain persists for more than three months and often gets worse with time. It may begin after an injury or result from a problem at birth, such as degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, or arthritis in the spine. Chronic back problems may also stem from overuse in work or sports activities or poor body mechanics when performing repetitive tasks.

    What causes back pain?

    Heavy lifting– Back pain can be caused by many forms of straining back muscles. For example, lifting heavy objects and suddenly twisting the body can cause back muscle strain. The simplest way to avoid this is to lift heavy objects with your legs, not your back.

    Straining the muscles– When you sit for a long time in one position, your muscles may tighten up. As a result, the muscle becomes strained hence leading to pain. It is not just sitting on hard benches or chairs that can cause this problem. Even comfortable office furniture can lead to straining your muscles if you don’t get up and move around regularly.

    Stress and lack of exercise– Other factors that can increase the risk of back pain are stress and lack of exercise. Stress causes tension in your body, which tightens your muscles and may lead to pain if left untreated. And when you don’t exercise regularly, your body doesn’t stay strong and flexible enough to help prevent injury.

    What to do

    Whether you have acute or chronic back pain, the danger of ignoring pain is that it may have a serious cause. Furthermore, taking over-the-counter drugs such as painkillers may mask the sensation of a torn muscle or broken bone or other serious problems. Besides, It is not always easy to tell whether a particular cause of back pain is severe or not. In this case, it is recommendable to seek medical help early. The doctors will help control the situation so you get back on track.

    Chronic back pain can steal your peace and body health and interfere with your ability to function normally. If not treated, it may lead to constant nerve irritation or permanent disability. If you are experiencing some back pain, seek medical attention immediately!
